Abstract
- The article presents the author's views on the literary style of poet John Howard. The author states that more closely he looks into Howard's lines, the more he realizes that they are not merely comparable to verse but the thing itself. He then discusses public language and poetry with reference to the book "Publics and Counterpublics," by Michael Warner. According to him, appreciating Howard's domination of Australian public language is understanding how his peculiar style of poetry worked.
