Abstract

This article focuses on the 60th anniversary of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The article chronicles the achievements made by the WHO, arguing that its efforts to control diseases such as smallpox and SARS have been some its greatest successes. Another success noted is the 1978 Alma Ata Declaration, a plan assembled by governments of nations to create national policies, strategies, and plans of action for primary health care. The article also includes possible improvements to the WHO as suggested by global health experts.
