Abstract
- The article considers the impact of the death of a legislator on the career of his or her staff members in Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. Clerk Kristin Garesche comments on a rule that members should not answer the telephones using the name of the deceased legislator. It cites that a succeeding lawmaker is not required to keep the staff of his or her predecessor and the tendency of some staffers to resign. Garesche added that the job of a staff shifts to archiving all papers after a member dies.
