Abstract: The article offers news briefs related to mineralogy in the U.S. The Friends of Mineralogy named Shawn M. Carlson, George W. Robinson, and Mark J. Elder as winners of the Best Paper in Rocks & Minerals Award for 2007. Sixth-grade students from Wyland, Michigan are going on a trip to the Wyoming Dinosaur Center in Thermopolis. The 30th mineralogical symposium held in conjuction with the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society will be on February 14, 2009.
