Abstract
- The article reports that the Swiss bank UBS AG announced it would lay off some 5500 employees. Over half the layoffs will come from the firm's investment banking operations in London, England and New York City. The layoffs are part of the bank's strategy to wind down its investment banking unit to focus on its private banking operation.
