Abstract

The title compound [systematic name: 2-(2-acrylamidoacetamido)acetic acid monohydrate], C7H10N2O4·H2O, was prepared by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of acryloyl chloride with glycylglycine. Excluding H atoms, the main chain of the molecule is nearly planar. In the crystal structure, O—H⋯O, N—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the molecules into a three-dimensional network.
