Abstract

The article investigates mathematics tasks that required students to make connections to the Pythagorean theorem, congruence and combinations by stretching a rubber band to form an oblique segment between any two pegs of a geoboard. It also demonstrates how the activity can be extended into algebra by having students find a generalization on how many oblique segments of different lengths can be made on the geoboard.
