Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the exercise intensity of adventure running. Eight individuals were monitored during three competitions (from 60 to 70 km). Two criteria were used to establish three phases of exercise intensity (fixed values of HR: 150 bpm - 170 bpm; relative values of HRpeak: 75 - 85%). The time spent in each phase was different between criteria (P < 0.05). The relative contribution of each phase was 63, 24 and 13%, respectively (P < 0.01). The rowing have greater contribution of phase I (~75/19/6%), followed by trekking (~59/24/17%) and mountain bike (~49/28/23%). Thus, the adventure running is performed predominantly in phase I, but time distribution among phases depended of modality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
