Abstract
- The article reports on the findings of the study conducted by two independent scientific teams in Japan and Wisconsin. Scientists reported that they reprogrammed human skin cells to embryonic stem cells, and added four genes to skin cells, which reprogrammed the cells back to their early undifferentiated state called "human induced pluripotent stem cells." It notes that the method creates stem cells that genetically match the donor without having to resort to somatic cell nuclear transfer.
