Abstract

The article reports on the aim of consumer-electronics manufacturer Sanyo Electric Co. to increase its flat-panel-television (TV) shipments in North America to four million units by the end of its fiscal year ending March 2011 according to Sanyo North America president Masami Murata. It notes that the firm supplies TV sets only to Wal-Mart Stores Inc., but Murata was also in discussions with other retailers like Costco Wholesale Corp. to offer its TV sets. Sanyo is trying to expand its business by focusing on environment- and energy-related products.
