Management of type 2 diabetes: updated NICE guidance.

The article presents an overview of guidelines for the management of type 2 diabetes which have been developed by Great Britain's National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. A discussion of recommendations included in the guidelines, which focus on the importance of having patient centered care, monitoring blood pressure, lowering glucose levels and managing blood lipids and cardiovascular risk, is presented. Kidney, eye and foot problems which are often seen in diabetic patients are examined.
