Abstract
- The article features George Alan Moreley Wookey. Born on October 31, 1922, Wookey joined the Royal Navy as Boy Seaman at 16 and became a diver in 1944. He was part of the search for the Hennes Majestäts Skepp (HMS) Affray in 1951. In 1957, Wookey had naval and civilian duties in the Fleet Diving School such as investigating the sunken British submarine P-36. He worked with Italian archaeologist Piero Nicola Gargallo. In 1961, Wookey worked on searching for a Russian spy trawler that sank in the Isle of Yell in the Shetland Islands.
