Abstract
- The article reports on the support of a European Medicines Agency panel to warnings for antianemia drugs used by cancer patients in the U.S. The agency opted to recommend blood transfusion over epoetin-containing drugs such as Aranesp of Amgen Inc. and Procrit of Johnson & Johnson (J&J) due to the risk of tumor development and death which outweights the medication's benefits. J&J said that it will cooperate with European health authorities to revise the drug's labels to reflect the panel's recommendation.
