Abstract

The article elaborates the response of World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-Australia on the government's plan to increase the National Reserve System's budget from $8 million to $36 million a year over five years in Australia. Such plan is welcomed by the organization because it has been calling for a government commitment of $50 annually over five years aimed in expanding the country's protected areas system. Experts believe that national parks and reserves are the best and most secure method of arresting declines of threatened wildlife towards extinction and buffering nature against climatic change.
