Abstract

The article reports on research which was conducted in an effort to determine demographic, biological and behavioral factors for recent HIV infection in Uganda. Researchers surveyed 11,454 women and 9,905 men and tested blood specimens that were seropositive for HIV. By conducting the survey and testing the samples with an HIV assay that is used to establish recent infection identified risk factors, researchers were able to discover the risk factors that are most frequently seen in the transmission of HIV, which may lead to prevention initiatives in the country.
