Abstract

Rural schools are characterized by answering the educational needs of the most isolated populations. This determines in a special way the daily task of teachers and head teachers, most of whom work by themselves, with very few possibilities of exchange with their colleagues. One of the basic characteristics of these institutions is the simultaneous attention of grades made up by boys and girls of different ages, according to the needs and possibilities of each school. Therefore, questions arise as regards the task of teachers in this work environment,the educational practice itself and the pedagogy developed from day to day to respond to the peculiarity of multigrade "issues". This article describes and states a reflection on the work of a group of these schools situated in the south west of Buenos Aires province. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
