Abstract: The article focuses on the Adirondack Canoe Classic held every September in New York. Since the designation of Adirondack as an official New York State Forest Preserve Centennial Event in 1985, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has played an integral role in the event. Paddlers Ray Morris of Glens Falls and Holly Crouch of Sherburne have participated in every single Adirondack event. The Adirondack Canoe Classic is said to celebrate human-powered boats, the concept of community and personal challenge.
