Abstract
- The article discusses how the location of Guam makes it a major funnel for U.S. operations in Asia. It is stated that the Anderson Air Force Base (AFB) in Guam is the closest base to Asia that can perform specialized repairs to damaged stealth aircraft and the task of swapping out the advanced sensor payloads used by high-altitude intelligence, reconnaissance and surveillance (ISR) aircraft. Retired Colonel Stephen Wolborsky adds that Guam offers far fewer constraints on airspace for unmanned aircraft.
