The article describes the first meeting of the task force for regional bibliography on May 19 and 20, 2008 in Hannover, Germany. The country's first national biography which was published in 1974 is noted, and trends in regional bibliographic efforts are described. Because data collection for regional bibliographies seeks to cover all forms of academic and public activity, the Hannover task force has recognized the necessity of developing keener research instruments and filters.
