Abstract

The article reports on the 2008 third-quarter financial performance of Canadian banks. The Royal Bank of Canada posted an earnings C$1.26 billion compared with C$1.40 billion in 2007 with credit loss provisions of C$334 million. Toronto-Dominion Bank reflected profitability of C$997 million and credit loss allocations of C$288 million. The National Bank of Canada announced gains of C$286 million versus C$243 million in 2007.
