Abstract
- The article reports that the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Israel are examining alternatives to extend Israel's defenses with an upper-tier system to counter emerging ballistic missile threats, including the advanced Shahab-3 being developed by Iran. John Rood, acting under secretary of State for arms control and international security, says that the upper-tier program is one effort amid a substantial increase in U.S. cooperation with Israel.
