Connecting Constituents to Government Information.

The article offers information on the nature and purposes of the Federal Depository Library as mandated by the United States Congress. The Depository Library Act of 1962 paved way to the creation of depositories in every state. It is argued that the equitable geographic distribution of depository libraries would ensure the preservation and educational importance of permanent collections of publications. A total of 1,253 federal depository libraries have been recorded, 729 have been created through representative appointments and 171 through senatorial appointments.
