Abstract

The article focuses on the development of an expression for estimating error rates in perpendicular magnetic recording systems. It examines an estimation of the probability of error for a dominant dibit error event, with a variety of parameter changes used to determine the error rate. It mentions that noise includes stationary white Gaussian electronics noise, as well as nonstationary colored medium transition noise. It discusses an expansion of the model to include additional noise effects.
