Introduction.

The article discusses various reports published within the issue, including one on the youth focused approach, in which disengagement from formal politics is held to be largely a result of young people's age and their social background, and the publication of the report, Power to the People, of the independent inquiry funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
