Abstract

Although the term Hesselbach’s triangle is used in everyday general surgical practice, little is written and known regarding the life of the early surgical pioneer for whom it is named. The present paper reviews the life of the German Franz Kaspar Hesselbach (1759–1816) and his contributions to the anatomical sciences and practice of surgery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
