Abstract
- An essay on writer Muriel Spark's relationship with the "New Yorker" magazine is presented. Comments on her writing career, Scottish literature, her autobiography "Curriculum Vitae," and the history of the magazine are offered. The magazine considered publishing her writing in 1959, and Spark's relationship with her editor developed. In 1961 Spark was offered a first-reading contract, as New York City began to shape her fiction. Further correspondence is presented and analyzed.
