Abstract
- The author comments on the study on the increased mortality after antibiotic treatment in patients with coronary artery disease. He argues that the facts are hard to reconcile and do not direct to a common mechanism on the negative effects of antibiotic treatment in patients with coronary artery disease. He states that the study need to be considered as hypothesis generating only until further studies on the increased risk of death with clarithromycin or other antibiotics are obtained.
