Abstract
- The article discusses the 50th anniversary of the introduction of diesel-fuel automobiles to the U.S. The author recalls a June 1959 issue of "Motor Trend" in which details were given about the Mercedes-Benz 190D Ponton sedan, which ran on diesel fuel. The article then explains that "Motor Trend" will recreate the 5,122 mile cross country road trip it used to test the 190D, but with a Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC clean-diesel-powered sport utility vehicle (SUV).
