Abstract

The article discusses high enrollment at colleges despite the U.S. economic crisis. The author notes the value of tuition as a source of funds for colleges and reports that several colleges have closed due to low enrollment rates. A survey conducted by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) and the journal revealed that a majority of colleges have maintained their enrollment rates and some have seen enrollment increases. Robert Morris University experienced a drop in student enrollments following tuition increases. Notre Dame de Namur University increased its enrollment by educating potential students about financial options.
