Traditional Chinese medicine.

The author discusses the nature of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and investigates the challenges facing its incorporation into Western medicine. Details concerning the history and philosophy behind TCM practices are presented. Evidence that Chinese herbs and acupuncture are effective treatments for chemotherapy-induced nausea and atopic eczema are cited. The integration of TCM and western medicine in China is discussed. Problems surrounding Western research trials of TCM are analyzed.
