Abstract

The article reports that Mohamed ElBaradei, director-general at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), has planned to retire from his position. IAEA's board has been recommended to set December 31, 2008 as the closing date for the receipt of nominations for a successor to ElBaradei. ElBaradei was reappointed by acclamation for a third term by the Agency's board of governors and was the fourth director-general since its creation in 1957.
