Abstract

In Detroit, a city that knows something about an industry facing a change-or-die moment, the two daily newspapers announced on Tuesday that they would make some of the most striking changes yet in a deeply troubled business. At the end of March, The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News will stop home delivery four days of the week, becoming the first major metropolitan dailies to take such a step. On those days, they will print pared-down editions for sale at newsstands -- 32-page, single-section papers. It was widely reported last week that the papers were contemplating such a move.
