Attitudes to Reading Survey- Rhyme or Reason?

The article presents the results of a reading survey which examined the attitudes and preferences of 11-year-old students in England. It discusses significant changes in the reading habits of the pupils, such as the continuous decline in their enjoyment of reading poetry. It identifies the need for teachers to use more active and engaging approaches as poetry was seen as underdeveloped in many of the schools. Discussion of the issues surrounding the learning and teaching of poetry is provided.
