Abstract
- A literary criticism of the book “The Adventures of Ferdinand Count Fathom” by Tobias Smollett is presented. It considers the nature of the novel, especially in light of Smollet's introduction in which he describes his ideas about what novels should be. The essay also considers the use of characters, the evolution of the plot, and the narrative point of view.
