Abstract

The article assesses three strategies for diagnosing women at risk for ectopic pregnancy based on information collected at initial presentation. The strategies used were logistic regression, a numeric scoring system and a classification and regression tree. The researchers found that a scoring system based on five factors, namely age, ectopic history, bleeding, prior miscarriage and human chorionic gonadotropin level, is effective in predicting outcomes of women at risk for ectopic pregnancy.
