Abstract

The article reports on a study of the utilization of physical therapy (PT) for patients recovering from intensive care unit (ICU). It surveyed 984 physical therapists from the United States wherein each was asked about the availability of physical therapists and PT for ICU patients who need mechanical ventilation. It showed that PT is given to ICU patients during their recovery from critical illness but the frequency and the type of PT depend on the type of hospital and clinical scenario.
