Abstract
- Prepare to be torn between two beautiful women. The immediate quandary in ''Lydia'' is which of the two enchanting young women to love most. Dear, beautiful Ceci, lying in a near vegetative state since the accident right before her 15th birthday. Or the remarkable, sparkling, effortlessly competent Lydia, the new maid who seems, almost magically, to understand everything Ceci is trying to say. Both characters deserve our love and both prove to be all too human. That may be the bottom line in Octavio Solis's fresh, penetrating, often blissful play, which had its world premiere at the Denver Center Theater Company last year and is now paying a welcome visit to the Yale Repertory Theater.
