Abstract
- This essay presents criticism of James Thomson's poetry cycle "The Seasons," particularly the poem "Winter," and discusses its relationship to the development and revision of the collective work. An overview of the textual history of the work is given, analyzing the thematic and structural revisions made between 1730-1760.
