Abstract

The article presents a study that examines cancer mortality in continuous glass filament workers in Italy. It describes a cohort of 936 continuous glass filament workers employed in a factory from the northern part of the country. It states that only 144 deaths were observed than the 160.8 expected based on regional death rates. According to the study, there were 53 deaths from all cancers and 21 from lung cancer. It found no consistent relation with risk for age at first employment or duration of employment for any of the considered causes. Furthermore, the study suggests that there is no increased risk of cancer to continuous glass filament workers.
