Exploiting Synergies.

The article discusses various issues concerning digital repositories and online information resources. Digital collections are said to have gained new readerships when they appear online in structured and searchable formats. According to the author, extending the web access to historically valuable collections can provide an opportunity for library science to take a leadership role in scholarly communities. The experiences of the University of California--Berkeley's Institute for Research on Labor and Employment Library (IRLE) in digital repository building are explored.
