Abstract

The article explores U.S. universities & colleges focused on economic development and U.S. states' efforts to drive economic growth. The higher education system in Ohio is being reformed to support economic development, link course offerings with labor demands, and connect state aid to progress on measures such as graduation rates. Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut and governor Ted Strickland are spearheading the effort. Other topics include increasing state funding for public colleges, core strengths of universities, and working relationships between business and universities.
