Beyond Participation: Administrative-Law Type Mechanisms in Global Environmental Governance. Toward a New Basis of Legitimacy?

The article focuses on the environmental impact of the global environmental governance. If the national governments remain the primary players with regulatory and enforcement powers to solve environmental problems, the nature of ecological threats requires a global-scale approach. To boost their legitimacy and effectiveness, the global regulatory structures are to adopt administrative-law type mechanisms.
