Abstract

The article focuses on the synthesis of difluorodiazirine (DFD) and the absolute reactivity of difluorocarbene. It is stated that difluorocarbene (CF2) is the most stabilized of the dihalocarnes and its computed stabilization energy is 62.8 kilocalorie/mole (kcal/mol) which is greater than the stabilization energies of chlorofluorocarbene. Meanwhile, DFD generates CF2 upon photolysis or pyrolysis.
