Abstract: The article discusses the characteristics and operational processes of a Sperry Flight Systems Vertical Gyro used by Boeing 747 aircraft. The system is used to measure the bank angle and attitude of an aircraft. The gyro is separated in two divisions, wherein the upper portion comprised of the electromechanical apparatus while the lower part is where the electronic systems are placed. The author explained the different parts like the armature and flywheel and the gimbal electrical feed contacts.
