Abstract
- The article presents an analysis regarding the application of counterinsurgency (COIN) fundamentals in Iraq. It examines COIN's importance in improving national security through the use of the "Sons of Iraq" security contractors to boost coalition forces, facilitate reconciliation in local villages, and empower Iraqi Security Forces. It presents the various benefits brought by the Sons of Iraq program.
