MANAS AIR BASE IS COMING UNDER ATTACK FROM THE SOUTH.

The article reports on the arrival of Kyrgyzstan President Kurmanbek Bakiyev in Moscow, Russia on February 3, 2009 to discuss new terms of partnership with the Russia government. Considering the deal of the country with the U.S.' over the persistency of the Manas air base, the U.S. government is paying more than $150 million a year to Kyrgyzstan. Despite Russia's recommendation to close the air base, the National Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has urged the country not to do so.
