Abstract

The article offers information on the causes of borderline personality disorder (BPD). It has been stated in most of the researches that a combination of a genetic predisposition and severe trauma in infancy is the main cause of BPD. The researchers say that genetic variants such as those engaged in neurotransmission of serotonin can be related to BPD. Brooks King-Casas, a neuroscientist at Baylor College of Medicine showed that a person with BPD have problems perceiving social gestures.
