Abstract
- The article offers poetry criticism of the poem "The Fortunes of Men," by Michael D. C. Drout. It considers the poem's structure, which starts with a lengthy catalog of fatal calamities with fundamental logic challenged by commentators. It explores a more expansive mode of narration at line 17, when it mentions a case of blindness. It also considers the criticisms of other writers to the poem.
