Abstract
- The article discusses research being done on the rainforests in Brazil. It references a study by Milton Cezar Ribeiro and colleagues, published in "Biological Conservation." Ribeiro mapped Brazil using satellite images, and vegetation maps produced by the SOS Mata Atlantica Foundation. He found that about 80 percent of the remaining forest is split into fragments with 1.4 kilometers distance, which makes it difficult for animals to move from one part of the forest to another.
