Abstract

The article presents the case study of a 17-year-old Japanese girl with sudden onset of calciphylaxis, a condition of skin necrosis. It is stated that calciphylaxis characterized by medial calcification of the dermal and subcutaneous small arteries. The patient was associated with an episode of temporary hypotension with chronic kidney failure undergoing peritoneal dialysis. She was treated with oral calcium carbonate and oral sevelamer hydrochloride.
